ROAD TO THE ANDAMAN SEA - 7 days / 6 nights (From 15 October until 30 April)

DAY 1

Tiny temple in the SAMROYOT Park Departure from Bangkok around 9am going south.
After an hour drive, discover the vast salt plains. Straight afterwards we will leave the main road, steering towards the Kaeng Krachan National Park, the largest in Thailand and certainly with the most dense, lavish forest. Above the Kaeng Krachen dam, we will arrive at a very large reserve lake known for its quantity of fish. Here we will lunch in a local lake side restaurant and be able to taste freshly caught fare.
After the meal, a boat will take us off for a tour of the lake to admire the unspoilt surrounding nature. Around 200 kilometres further south we shall make a short stop at the southern point of another National Park, Khao Sam Roi Yot, where we may be amazed by the savage landscape, as its name indicates (the three hundred summits). At sunset we'll be off the discover the marsh fauna, an unforgettable experience!
Back on the road to Bangsaphan and Coral Hotel, followed by evening meal.

DAY 2

Breakfast at Coral Hotel, then departure for a expedition into authentic Thailand.
Firstly a visit to the natural caves and statuettes situated in the heart of a Buddhist temple, a unique introduction to this dominant religion. Then, driving along the coastal route with its savage scenery and sandy dunes, we'll arrive at the fishing village of Bankrut, dominated by a Big Buddha and temple which was built in homage to the king.
After lunching at Coral Hotel, take a trek in a jeep along a thin, winding path to admire the mountain views, rubber plantations, local cultures and numerous orchards including coffee, bananas, pineapples, mangoes and other exotic fruits.
Before arriving at the Burmese border, we shall journey alongside the small rapids and waterfalls in the heart of the lavish vegetation.

DAY 3

Bamboo cottage Breakfast, and on the road to cross the pennisula toawrds the Anaman sea at Ranong. Here, embarkation on a fishing boat to visit the Island of Kho Swang in Burma. Discover another nation and culture. Return to Ranong for a seafood lunch in a local restaurant with panoramic view. Back on the water, direction the Island of Phayman, a savage jewel in the Andaman sea. The island is inhabited by a hundred or so Thai who live off fishing, shrimping and the cajou nut recolt. Phayman is surrounded by beautiful beaches and coral reefs.
Landing on the beach of a small resort, our accomadation for the night consists of basic bamboo bungalows, all with showers and toilets, and the experiece of going to sleep with the sound of birds and waves in our ears! Electricity is produced by a generator which stops at 23h.

DAY 4

Kuraburi View Resort Hotel Breakfast and a short hike of around 15 minutes across the island to the quay. On the way to, admire the superb surroundings of cajou nut plantations and tiny hamlets. Before embarking on a boat a tour of the island to discover a multitude of creeks and bays. Equipped with mask and tuba, surface dive to observe the undersea coral life. For those who prefer, an outing on a fishing boat to watch the local shrimpers at work, is on option. Following the mornings water activities, lunch, then back on to dry land again. Arriving at our hotel during the evening, settle in to the mountain style, comfortable Kuraburi Greenview Resort (air conditionning, hot water, mini bar, television..) with its tropical forest atmosphere bordering the Kao Sok National park, before dinner and musical evening.

DAY 5

Green View and SURIN A breakfast buffet and departure on a small motor craft crossing over to the Surin islands. During the hour journey keep an eye out for the many dolphins' colonies which dwell in these protected waters. The Surin Islands are situated over 50 kms off the Thai coast and since 1981 are part of the National Park.
The water surrounding these islands is extraordinarily clear and the surface diving is exceptional. You will be able to admire the fascinating coral reefs, sea turtles and a large variety of fish life. Diving equipment can be provided and you will be overseen by competent and attentive diving instructors.
Morning diving takes places on two different sites before heading off for lunch at a National Park restaurant. More diving may be anticipated for those who wish to continue.
At the end of the day a speed boat will take you back to Kuiraburi port where you will discover your hotel, The Green View, for dinner and the night.

DAY 6

Canoe on the KAOSOK river Following breakfast, we will leave for the Kao Sok National Park. This magnificent park spreads over the island and is a mass of tropical forests, waterfalls, chalky cliffs and torrents. Koa Sok shelters various wildlife species including elephants, tigers, leopards and bears, but we must be satisfied with an elephant ride through the jungle!
After a forest lunch (barbequed chicken, bamboo cooked rice ... ) the most spirited may undertake the 7 kms trek through the dense vegetation leading to spectacular falls in the hope of discovering a savage lotus, the world's largest flower which grows here. Those wishing a less strenuous activity may prefer to embark on a delightful two hours canoe trip drifting down the river Sok. Late afternoon will find us travelling back to Bangsaphan Coral Hotel for dinner and the night.


DAY 7

KAOSOK National Park Lunch in the jungle

After breakfast you are invited to relax until lunch time and then departure by road for Bangkok.
